Here is a Featurette from Gore Verbinski’s upcoming animated film Rango. I have already been very excited about this after seeing the trailer. But this featurette makes it even more interesting. One thing I didn’t quite like in animation production was the fact that a lot of the time the actors are kept in a sound studio and watch clips of the film or just read the script and record. A lot of the time, like for instance with Tangled, the actors don’t even get a chance to work together. From what it seems, Gore Verbinski is working differently and taking on a more Avatar type approach, where the actors are able to act out the scenes in a room together, where they will later on be animated into their characters. The film takes on a more organic feel to it, when the actors are forced to act out this world together rather than just read lines. It also seems like a lot more fun to do. 

You can see in the trailer alone the characters have a little more personality which makes a huge difference in the emotion of it all. 

The film stars Johnny Depp, Isla Fisher, Abigail Breslin, Alfred Molina, Bill Nighy, Harry Dean Stanton, Ray Winstone and Timothy Olyphant. Coming to theaters March 28th, 2011.
